Burtonian provides independent consulting to a variety of technology infrastructure providers.

Craig works closely with top executives to develop strategic marketing direction for organizations of multiple demographics. His many years working as an infrastructure provider and an independent analyst have given him an intimate knowledge of the technology infrastructure industry. Coupled with his vision of where the industry will be years from now and his personal experience, he brings what many organizations need–an objective visionary perspective.

The following comments from associates explain the benefits of working with Craig.

For more information, contact Craig at gcraigburton@yahoo.com or call 480.234.2214.

Ed Ekstrom—Managing Director at vSpring Capital

“Craig is one of the most insightful and creative people I’ve ever worked with. He is capable of vision at 100K feet and then bringing it down to an executable plan. I highly recommend him as a consultant in the systems management, networking/communications, mobile and security areas.”

Andre Durand—Founder and CEO of Ping Identity, Co-Founder of Digital ID World

“Craig has been an advisor to me in my roles both at Jabber, Inc. and at Ping Identity Corporation. In my professional experience, no other advisor has held as much power and truth in his comments and recommendations than Craig Burton. He’s like the guru of all guru’s.

Craig is particularly potent when it comes to software infrastructure.”

He sees through the clutter and cuts right to the heart of the matter. You may not like what he says, you may not agree with him, or you simply may not understand him, but you had better listen.

Kim Cameron—Architect of Identity and Access at Microsoft

“Both at the Burton Group and at Burtonian, Craig taught me what marketing really was, and how innovation depends on it. Craig is amazing and I continue to ask for his advice and opinions.

If you want to understand the technology you’ve just invented, go see Craig. In fact, I’d call it necessary.”

Jamie Lewis—CEO and Research Chair at Burton Group, Owner Burton Group

“Craig is a visionary. I worked for him at Novell, and later with him at Burton Group. I consistently found working with him to be some of the most rewarding experiences in my life. His ability to sense the underlying dynamics that shape products and markets, and the practical architectures necessary to support the ongoing evolution of distributed computing are, quite simply, unique. He always challenged my thinking, and I’m a better analyst and critical thinker as a result.”

Steve Gillmor—Contributing Editor at ZDNet

“Craig is a rare combination of visionary and pragmatic realist. He has correctly identified the emergent trends of modern technology well before the market and those who ignore his advice invariably regret it.”

Pamela Dingle—Enterprise Identity Management Consultant

“Craig has the incredible ability to cut to the heart of anything. He can say in two words what most people might take 40 pages of whitepaper to illustrate. Those two words, if you are lucky enough to be around to hear them, will set your mind reeling with implications for days.”

David Chung—Enterprise software executive

“In one’s career, you are lucky if you get a chance to witness history being made up close and personal. At Novell, I got that chance and the opportunity to work with some of the industry’s early geniuses. Craig was one of those guys. His penchant to not only understand where the industry was heading was equally matched by his incredible exuberance to work tirelessly to help accelerate the rest of the world in catching up and “getting it” as quickly as possible.

Early pioneers like Craig were the ones that created the phrase, “’No’ is NOT an option!”

Cheryl Snapp—Managing Partner, Snapp Conner Public Relations

“Craig Burton is one of the most remarkably talented marketing minds I have ever known. He was directly responsible for Novell’s strategy of hardware independence that helped to shape the networking industry as we know it today. I have had the great opportunity to work with Craig in multiple companies—and in fact, I have Craig to thank for bringing me into the technology industry. I would recommend Craig highly for marketing council in the technology industry and especially in the identity and security space.”

Scott Lemon—Technologist, Technology Evangelist, Business Strategist, Consultant

“Craig has always amazed me with his foresight into the future, and his skill at aligning current efforts to work into future trends. I enjoy his unique perspective of the Internet and technology, and his ability to see meta-trends and patterns that often escape even those of us immersed in the industry. His articulate nature, and humor, makes working with him a pleasure!”

Terry Haas—Technology Executive

“Craig is one of the most creative and notable technology visionaries that I’ve ever had the pleasure of being associated with. He has the track record of success to provide credibility to his insights into what is important and who is behind the most notable trends in IT. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for objective guidance to their IT strategic direction.”

Grover Righter—Vice President, Marketing at Vusion, Inc.

“Craig Burton has the “Big 3” everyone is seeking in the technology industries: Vision, Brains and Passion.

His Vision of where products, markets and customers are trending is second to none. At Novell and The Burton Group, Craig was a leader in defining new market trends concerning not only what technologies enterprises would adopt and how they would use them, but also which uses would have the greatest impact on the business.

His Brains have helped guide first Novell and then the majority of his client customers to make the right strategic decisions regarding product directions and technology investments. Craig has a unique ability to cut through the noise in the industry and present a clear and compelling path that is second to none.
Craig’s Passion in his ideas and the benefits to customers provide much needed leadership in an industry too often led by numbers alone (an often the wrong numbers at that). Craig is tireless in promoting the causes of his customers. He is one of the best public speakers in high technology and his basic humanity comes through every time.

If you have the chance to work with Craig, don’t pass it up.”

Mark Calkins—Technology Marketing Executive

“Craig is one of the most strategic marketing executives I have every worked with. His is far and away one of the biggest movers and shakers in the networking world. Novell would never have been anything without Craig’s vision, strategy and direction. He is extremely intuitive and visionary. Plus he is a whole lot of fun to work with. I would recommend Craig anytime he gets passionate about something. Then watch out!”
