Visits and Trips

July 7th, 2003 · Comments

I spent most of the day with Doc Searls and his son yesterday. What a treat. Doc is very inspiring and full of knowledge and wisdom. His son is full of energy and intelligence, a blast to be around.

Doc loves geology. He kept pointing at rocks and points of interest whever we went. I grew up here so it isn’t so obvious to me and it provides a fresh look when somone else is seeing history around the valley where I live.

The Salt Lake Valley is a giant lake bed. Lake Bonneville. The Great Salt Lake is all that is left of the huge lake that filled the valley at some point in history. The mountains around the valley record the event with clear historical references. (If you know what to look for.)

Doc is such pragmatist and gentle man. Great to be around and visit with. His son adores him and tells him so all of the time. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. These kind of meetings don’t happen enough. Thanks Doc and little Doc!
