CTP as a NetWare Channel?

CTP as a NetWare Channel?

I previously pointed out that adding new channels for the sale of NetWare was not strategic for Novell and thus the acquisition of CTP could hardly be viewed as strategic.

While this is so, I also realized that CTP is an integrator. The integrator does what the customer says. Thus there is very little commitment from the integrator to the vendor. In other words CTP is going to go on selling to the customer whatever the customer wants.

Rest assured that Novell technical services plays no such role today. Novell Tech Services pushes Novell products, period. So the question becomes, does Novell move towards being an integrator with a broader choice of platforms? (Windows and Linux for example.) Or does CTP flexibility to sell choice to the customer diminish? (Stop selling Windows and Linux for example.)

Novell has had such a hard time giving up on its already commoditized platform; I doubt this round will change things. CTP gets absorbed and goes away is my bet.
